The Old School, Rye Park in country NSW near Yass was built in 1876 and used as a school until 1974. One can still find ink on the floorboards of the schoolroom, but the room has lost the schoolhouse chill. The School has been extended and renovated and now resembles a rambling country house, where guests relax on down sofas and are warmed by generous fires. An antique church organ displaying mouse-proof pedals sits majestically in the sitting room. The industrious find bubblers in the laundry. The Old School B&B is a rustic and charming country retreat, interesting and delightful. Surrounded by three and a half acres of gardens, ponds, courtyards and sunny areas it creates an atmosphere that encourages relaxation. The garden is especially beautiful during spring when fruit blossom and old-fashioned roses abound... Rye Park is three and a half hours south of Sydney, an hour and a quarter from Canberra ACT, seven hours from Melbourne and half an hour north of Yass.

The Old School is a unique bed and breakfast accommodation that is designed so that guests rarely meet, unless this is intended. The house is in two wings. The Wisteria wing has two bedrooms, one en suite and private sitting room, with another bedroom on the mezzanine floor. The Orchard Wing has two bedrooms, one en suite, one private bathroom and a private sitting room.

The Old School B&B in ideal for small groups, sleeping a maximum number of twelve people. Guests meet in the main sitting room where breakfast and dinner is served to guests at individual tables for their group. Self contained accommodation is also available.

It is the ideal retreat for those who want to relax, walk and read, and at the end of the day enjoy some really fine food with influences from Belgium, Italy and Asia.
